Six years and counting – the Qatar International Food Festival is back.

Spread over five days from March 24-28, the event brings together Doha’s most delicious venues onto the sprawling grounds of the Museum of Islamic Art Park.

Wednesday, March 25 – Saturday, March 28

Parking:

Free shuttles from Old Airport arrivals terminal parking and Doha Club lot beside Sharq Village Hotel & Spa.  MIA Car Park reserved for VIPs
Restrooms:

Scarce, with very long lines.  Prepare accordingly
Terms of Sale:

Cash finally accepted by vendors this year.  Coupons system also available for nostalgic purposes

Highlights:

Dining in the Sky – this year, the crane lifts you 60 metres into the air for an hour as you experience food served on board Qatar Airways Business Class.  Tickets are QR500 a head, available only on-site, and can be purchased for future slots.

 

Qatar/Turkey Cultural Zone – to celebrate this year’s cultural exchange of both nations, a special section is devoted for one to delight in Turkish cuisine

 

High Tea – the recently opened Kempinski Marsa Malaz has mounted a two-storey pop-up restaurant serving scones and tea all day long.

Instagram Market – Qatari home cooks active on Instagram were invited to showcase their dishes for sale in a special section promoting local specialties.  If you’ve never tried such creations as balaleet, a sweet vermicelli with egg and cardamom, this is your chance

 

Global Cuisine – all of Doha’s major hotels are out in full force to introduce their restaurants to the city, from the vibrant Marriott Doha’s salsa-themed stand to the W Hotel’s ingenious faux food truck, there really is something for everyone.
